Welcome Weeping Willow 2nd Chance German Shepherd Sanctuary
Pat Lukos, our dear friend and formerly of Last Hope Safe Haven German Shepherd Rescue has established a German Shepherd rescue organization for senior and ill shepherds. This has always been Pat's dream to rescue some of the neediest of dogs. The sanctuary will be in Lordstown, Ohio, and Pat is now in the process of relocating her home to this property. Everyone at Angel Ridge is so proud of Pat and her work. We will continue to work closely together. Click on the link for a story of one of Weeping Willow's first rescue dogs.
Angel Ridge at the Fair!

The fair ran from August 15th to August 22 at the Washington County Fairgrounds. The Neil family designed and staffed our booth for the week. Other volunteers took dogs and kitties down during the week so that fair goers could meet them. Two dogs and two kittens were adopted becuse they were seen at the fair. Funds were raised to help with our ongoing expenses. Lots of new friends were made and more people now know about us and the work that we do. Thanks to everyone who helped!

****UPDATE ON MYA/NOEL'S CASE***
The Beaver Borough Police Department has no new information on the trial for Mya/Noel's killer. The Department urges people to write to the District Attorney with your concerns and comments. As the trial comes closer, we will keep everyone updated.
A memorial service was held at Angel Ridge for abused animals.
A Tearful Goodbye and a New Beginning For Rescue
On Sunday January 4th 2009 a memorial service was held at Angel Ridge Animal Rescue for Noel, a young German Shepherd mix dog that was starved to death by her guardian. At the time of her death before Christmas, Noel’s name was Mya. She was kept in a wire crate by a young woman who watched her slowly die as she cooked and lived in the apartment where the dog suffered. The case is being handled by the District Attorney of Beaver County.
Last Hope Safe Haven, a German Shepherd rescue organization has been pro-active in this case. We hoped that Noel’s remains would have been available for burial at Angel Ridge, but unfortunately, they were discarded by the humane society that was involved in the case. A memorial stone with Noel’s name in gold letters was dedicated in Noel’s memory and placed in the Angel’s Garden at Angel Ridge Animal Rescue. The Candlelight memorial was attended by approximately 20 people, many of whom are members of other rescue organizations. The Angel’s Garden was dedicated to the memory of Noel as well as two other dogs that were starved to death in Allegheny County in 2008.
All of our hearts have been broken as we followed the case and said our good-bye to a gentle soul that only wanted to love and be loved in return. On behalf of Noel and the many other abused animals that we serve, the rescuers in attendance have vowed to work together in an even more diligent and dedicated manner in 2009 so we can help so many more animals in need. Noel has not died in vain, but we pray to God that no other animal will ever have to endure such suffering or a senseless death.
