We Say Good Bye...
Tearfully, we all have had to say goodbye to two of our must precious animals at Angel Ridge. On September 25th, draft horse Ariel died peacefully after a two year struggle to make her comfortable with her injured back leg. Ariel came to us in December, 2007 with a back leg that was six times the size of the other leg. An unattended injury by her former guardian left her in this state. At our sanctuary, she received constant and top-notch veterinary care by our equine vet, and careful follow-up by our staff and volunteers. She began to have difficulty getting up from a lying down position. Ariel is buried on the property, and a large cross marks her grave. A poem, the Song of Ariel, was written in her loving memory. On November 1, blind dalmation, Domino, went to the Rainbow Bridge. Domino had many tests performed when he began having difficulty getting up. The vet advised us that he would get progressively worse. Domino came to us in 2002 from a family in South Carolina that had rescued him from a kill shelter. He was also heartworm positive. Domino lived with me and my little gang of recue dogs in my home. I loved him incredibly and I will miss him always. I sang to him, "Oh Domino, my Domino", and he loved hearing his name being sung. Our website volunteer, Janine Pratt, took many pictures of my last time with Domino. I would like to share this one - rescue dog CoCo is there to comfort me. Thank you and God bless everyone that helped to make the lives of these two special angels full of love and comfort.
